How did Sisters Noir come about and why?
Well first of all I'd bought the domain because the name had to do with characters in stories I write. I started this project because when I think of movies I instantly turn to male actors in oft big, brash roles. I thought for Sisters Noir I'd change tact and look at actresses who, for whatever reasons, have something about them on-screen. Inevitably not everyone will agree with the actresses that appear on this site, but that's where you come in and suggest your own!
So I hear there's this really comprehensive site called IMDB, what's the point in all this then?
I've had a good think about this and while IMDB is indeed very good and very comprehensive, it is more of an encyclopedia. I would rather Sisters Noir
read like a book or magazine and perhaps in time to function as more of an academic resource tool to those interested in cinema and how actors act, the dramatic effect, yadda yadda.
What are your future plans for Sisters Noir?
To create a community and to get others involved. I won't have a massive amount of time but it would be nice to start something. Also, I would ideally like Sisters Noir to expand into other areas, the focus still obviously on women, but perhaps moving into the realms of literature and other mediums.
Will you be requiring help to proceed with the project?
Yes, at some point it would be nice to have a team. Perhaps we could even work out how to make some money out of it all. Remember, I need your help to make this project a success.
I don't like the site design it's boring, will it change?
I plan on making a much nicer design ASAP. How soon that'll be in reality I'm not sure, but I would like it to be something special that'll last and possibly become the recognisable Sisters Noir "brand". Initially however I will concentrate on content and building interest (you too could be a big help this way if you're feeling generous - please spread the word!).
