At first Sisters Noir was designed to be a holding page bought on a whim to await a time when I may have used it to create a website concerning three female characters in stories that I write. These intelligent and beautiful women are strong and versatile, and you can find out a little more about them here.

My problem was that I didn't just want this site to be a holding page for something that may never come to fruition, so I had a little think and came up with a theme for this site.

I like movies a lot and actresses. I also want to learn more about them, so I thought I would make a website which charts women in cinema from the days of Film Noir to present-day blockbusters and everything in between.

I do not claim to be an authority on the subject of women in film and women filmmakers - I just see what I see and comment on it. This site is designed to be an intelligent discussion where user input (that means YOU!) is greatly appreciated. I want to hear what you think and ultimately you will make this site work, but please remember to be courterous with your and others opinions.

This website is unlikely ever to be an exhaustive guide, but I will add as much information as possible, time permitting. I noticed on Google that there didn't appear to be a site like this already, so with a bit of luck we can all be a part of something a bit different and new. At some point, when there are more readers, I plan on creating a discussion forum where you can more easily add your views and recommendations on cinema.
